.Proposal for Canadian Project:

Americans know very little about Canadian culture, even though we share a border across the length of our nations. Canada has always been a predominant influence on my life, I have dated a Canadian, been friends with Canadians and been in direct contact with Canadian artists all of my adult life, leading me to believe that the country itself has a direct influence on my life and work. I plan to travel across Canada for a year or longer to research it and view it through the eyes of someone born through the prospects of the American Dream, as my mother herself was at one point in time an immigrant searching for a better life. I want to make my first trip to Canada a research of how to approach this broad project that will take at least a year and will change and grow as my work does, similarly to Robert Franks The Americans. I hope to gain knowledge of the Canadian cultural landscape and what the core differences are that separate Canada from citizens of The United States, and through this, in some visual form, bridge the gap between neighbors.
